Cinnamon Cookie Bars

This recipe comes from a cookbook called “The Farm Chicks in the Kitchen.”  Yummy!

Makes one 9 by 13 inch pan full of bars.


2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

3/4 cup butter, softened

3/4 cup packed light brown sugar

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 eggs

1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Whisk together the flour, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, cloves and nutmeg in a medium sized bowl.  Set aside.

Cream the butter with an electric mixer; add both sugars and the vanilla and beat until creamy.

Add the eggs.

Gradually add the flour mixture, beating until smooth.

Stir in the chocolate chips.

Press the dough into a 9 by 13 inch baking pan.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cool and cut into bars.
